Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 10 March 1862 in Franklin Co., N.C. at the age of 18, assigned to Company F, 47th Regiment N.C. on 11 April 1862. Promoted to Full Corporal on 06 March 1864. POW on 05 April 1865 at Petersburg, VA Confined on 15 April 1865 at Point Lookout, MD (Estimated day). Took oath of Allegiance on 21 June 1865 at Point Lookout, MD. 47th NC, Pettigrew's Brigade, Heth's Division, was under the Army of Northern Virginia and took part in the Pickett/Trimble/Pettigrew charge on July 3, 1863 at Gettsburg, amongst many other battles.



W. Fenner left NC not long after the war and went to Missouri and was in Texas by 1871 (according to TX records). In the 1900 census he is listed on the Midland Co., TX rolls as single and working as a day laborer. By 1906 Fenner applied to the state of TX for a confederate veteran pension as he was no longer able to work due to “suffering from wounds from explosion during war”. He was granted a pension and lived the rest of his days in the confederate veterans home in Austin, TX.

Lookout, Md. on 06/28/1865.

Alpheus Green Sharp

Enlisted at Graham, NC, with his brother Michael R. Sharp. Wounded in the hand during Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863. Michael was captured and died while a POW at Fort Delaware in October 1863. Alpheus suffered a major gunshot wound to the right thigh during the battle of Cold Harbor in June of 1864. Remained in hospital until March 1865. Released from the hospital and paroled at Greensboro, NC, in April 1865.

my great-great 1st cousin henry enlisted 03/13/1862.he was in the pettigrew/trimble charge at gettysburg. his uncle william was in the 52nd n.c. that also participated in the charge. henry was wounded 06/02/1864 and was taken prisoner near petersberg, va on 10/27/1864. he was held at pt. lookout,md. until his parole in 1865.
